Are You Wearing the Correct Bra Size ?

Are you wearing the correct bra size?

The answer is probably no. 85% of women are wearing an ill-fitting bra. This is more serious than you perhaps first think, especially for women with larger breasts.

Wearing the wrong size bra can have serious affects on your health. Ill fitting bras can cause back pain, tingling in the arms, breathing problems, breast pain and rashes, to mention but a few! Therefore, it is imperative that you get measured or measure yourself before investing in a good quality bra.

“But how do I know if my bra is the wrong size” I hear you cry….

• If the under wire is digging into your skin, you need a bigger cup size and band measurement.

• If your breast spills out of the top of the cup, or the under wire does not sit comfortably underneath the breast, you definitely need a larger cup size.

• If the bra feels tight around your back or leaves a red mark on your skin, consider moving up a measurement.

So now you know how to spot the signs of an ill-fitting bra, you just need to learn how to measure yourself.

It is better if you get someone else to measure for you as your posture will be more natural. Firstly, measure just under the breast and around the back (where the band of the bra would normally be) and add 5 inches. This measurement will determine your size in inches, e.g 34”. Next you need to work out your cup size; AA,A,B,C,D,DD…etc. For this we need the full breast measurement, so you measure around your body, over your nipples. Subtract this measurement from your previous measurement and this will give your cup size; e.g 1 inch difference = A cup, 2 inches difference = B cup, and so on.

Good luck and happy bra shopping!
